LevelK acquires “The Little Death” Toronto comedy

LevelK has acquired international sales rights to Josh Lawson’s feature debut “The Little Death” in the run up to Toronto, where the film will make its world premiere in the Discovery section, Variety said.

Shot in Sydney, “The Little Death” is an edgy sex comedy depicting the secret lives of five suburban couples. It stars an ensemble of up-and-comers, including Damon Herriman (“The Water Diviner”), Bojana Novakovic (“Burning Man”), Kate Mulvany (“The Great Gatsby”) and Josh Lawson (“House of Lies”).

Per LevelK, “The film’s title is a direct translation of la petite mort, the French euphemism for orgasm, and its characters find some eccentric ways to get there as ‘The Little Death’ weaves together a story that explores a range of sexual fetishes and the repercussions that come with sharing them.”

“Sex felt like the obvious choice. It’s the subject we’d all rather be talking about,” said Lawson.

“The Little Death” was produced by Jamie Hilton, Michael Petroni and Matt Reeder for See Pictures. It’s exec produced by Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, Josh Pomeranz, Viv Scanu and Stephen Boyle.

Entertainment One Films Australia will release the movie on Sept. 25.
