Armenian-Georgian ties at their highest level: President

President Serzh Sargsyan met Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Yerevan on Friday, August 22.

At the meeting, the Armenian leader stressed the importance of mutual visits in strengthening relations between the two countries. Sargsyan noted Armenian-Georgian ties to be at their highest level, which facilitates discussion of any matters.

Garibashvili, in turn, expressed hope that friendly relations with Armenia will help secure welfare and promote interests of both countries.

Garibashvili further briefed Sargsyan on the results of his meetings with Armenian officials and the agreements reached.

The parties also discussed Armenian-Georgian relations as well as recent regional developments.

The President and PM hailed the deal reached during Sargsyan’s official visit to Georgia, stipulating for construction of a new bridge at the Bagratashen-Sadakhlo border checkpoint. The parties reiterated their commitment to accelerating the construction.

The meeting was followed by an official lunch at the presidential palace in honor of the PM-led Georgian delegation.
