Twitter opens Analytics section to all users, provides info on followers

Twitter has opened up its Analytics section to all users, providing them with information about their followers, Digital Spy reveals.

Subscribers who have held an account for more than two weeks can access the service and browse data such as the gender, location and interests of their contacts.

It is also possible to discover how many users viewed a particular tweet, and find out how many clicked on it. This information can be downloaded for offline viewing.

Twitter Analytics has been accessible for celebrities and certain companies since July, but this is the first time the general public have been able to get their hands on the data.

Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that Twitter is about to step up its presence in e-commerce with the introduction of a 'Buy' button, allowing users to purchase goods and services via a tweet.

The company is allegedly aiming to roll out this service en masse in time for the Christmas season.
