Reese Witherspoon drama "Wild" to open San Diego Film Festival

Reese Witherspoon's new drama "Wild" will take part at the 13th San Diego Film Festival as the opening film on September 24. Meanwhile, Hilary Swank's "You're Not You" will close the festival on September 27, AceShowbiz reported.

"Wild" had its premiere on Friday, August 29 at the 41st Telluride Film Festival. Witherspoon, co-star Laura Dern and director Jean-Marc Vallee attended the event with surprise guest Oprah Winfrey. However, it is yet clear whether Witherspoon will also attend the San Diego Film Festival.

"Wild" is a story of a woman who tries to rebuild her shattered life by taking on a mission not seen in film since Forrest Gump ran across the country. Traumatized by the death of her mother and then the breakup of her marriage, she made the impulsive decision to try regaining her mojo by taking on an 1100-mile solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. The pic will be released on theaters December 5.

The closing film "You're Not You" follows a pianist named Kate whose orderly life is suddenly turned upside when she is diagnosed with a debilitating and life-threatening disease. Kate and her husband hire college student Bec, who is struggling to keep her own life together, to be her caregiver.

According to Variety, Josh Duhamel is scheduled to attend the San Diego Film Festival as part of "You're Not You" cast. The film will have its limited theatrical release on October 10.
