Armenian, Azeri leaders attending NATO summit

Today, September 4, Wales will host the opening of a 2-day NATO summit with the situation in Ukraine in the focus of the event.

Formation of the NATO rapid reaction forces will be approved at the event; further cooperation with partner countries will be discussed, with Finland and Switzerland expecting to establish closer ties with NATO.

Armenian leader Serzh Sargsyan left for Great Britain on September 3. The President will meet the leaders and cabinet heads of the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) member states on the sidelines of the NATO summit.

As U.S. Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick said in his Twitter post, “The Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan are attending today's NATO Summit, a strong statement about our shared values and goals.”

Earlier, the Co-Chair didn’t rule out a meeting been the two leaders in Wales; however, the information hasn’t been officially confirmed on either Yerevan or Baku’s side.
