Govt. allocates AMD 147M to storm-damaged Armenian provinces

The government allocated AMD 147 million for reconstruction of buildings damaged by natural disasters in Armenia’s Tavush and Gegharkunik provinces, territorial administration minister Armen Gevorgyan said Thursday, September 11, ARKA reported.

In June, a heavy storm damaged several dozens of buildings in border communities of Tavush and Gegharkunik.

The instructions for rehabilitation were given during the president and prime minister’s visits to the region earlier, the official said.

The funding will be allocated to reconstruct building in disaster-affected communities of Paravakar, Chinari and Aygedzor (Tavush province) and two communities in Gegharkunik.

Also, a protective wall will be constructed in the border village of Chinari to provide safety of local population in the face of Azeri shelling.

Several months ago, Ayo Fund for Armenian Relief initiated construction of a protective wall in the village of Aygepar, with a fundraiser campaign launched in late June.”
