Three years after "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)", David Fincher still hopes to make a sequel to the mystery thriller. "I think because [Sony] already has spent millions of dollars on the rights and the script it will result in something," he tells Swedish site Afton Bladet, AceShowbiz said.

The "Gone Girl" helmer says the script has already been written and he's happy with the result. Of what to expect from the next installment, he reveals, "The script that we now have has a huge potential, I can reveal as much as it is extremely different from the book."

Dubbed "The Girl Who Played with Fire", the sequel is expected to have Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara back as Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander respectively. The former is currently preparing the next James Bond flick, and the latter is attached to play Tiger Lily in "Pan".

Last year, Mara expressed her concern for the sequel, "I hope that they make the second one. I'm just not sure when they're going to. I mean, I hope they make it soon because I'm not getting any younger. The second one is very physical, so hopefully they'll be making it sooner rather than later."
