Artur Aleksanyan brings Armenia 2nd Greco-Roman wrestling gold at World Championships

A 3-time European Championship winner, Greco-Roman wrestler Artur Aleksanyan (98 kg) brought Armenia another gold medal, beating Germany’s Oliver Hassler at World Championships.

As the wrestler told local media, another personal victory was defeating Iran’s Ghasem Rezaei who he lost to at London Olympics.

“It was hard work, but I won the champion’s title and hope to continue wrestling to fight at the 2020 Olympics,” Alexanyan said.

Coach Gevorg Aleksanyan, the wrestler’s father, was overjoyed at the victory, calling it the happiest moment of his life.

The head coach of Armenian team Levon Julfalakyan was beaming with pride at the major success of this year’s Championships: On September 12, Arsen Julfalakyan won gold in the 75 kg weight class.
