Armenian President, UN chief discuss cooperation, Karabakh

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met Friday, Sept 26, with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The two men discussed UN-Armenia cooperation, including on the issue of the Post-2015 Development Agenda and exchanged views on the Nagorno Karabakh peace process and the role of the international community.

The Secretary-General congratulated the Armenian people on the recent 23rd anniversary of national independence.

President Serzh Sargsyan also visited St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral in New York and laid flowers to the Armenian Genocide memorial.

He later held a meeting with the representatives of the Armenian communities in New York and New Jersey during a working dinner hosted by Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern).
