Facebook “plotting move into healthcare business”

Facebook is reportedly plotting a move into the healthcare business.

The social network is planning to launch its own medical apps and services as well as official online support communities, Digital Spy said citing Reuters.

The company is said to be in talks with medical industry experts and to be in the process of assembling a research and development team to make the project a reality.

Facebook allegedly began to take the idea of breaking into healthcare seriously following the success of its organ donor status launch in 2012, which enabled users to add organ donation to their Life Events.

Several other major tech firms have made inroads into the healthcare industry in recent years, including Apple, Google and Samsung.

Facebook is yet to address the rumours that it is planning a move into healthcare.
