Turkey and the U.S. reached no new agreement on the use of Incirlik airbase in southern part of the country, Turkish officials said on Monday, Oct 13, a day after U.S. officials revealed that Ankara will let U.S. and coalition forces use its bases, including Incirlik, for operations against the Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq, according to Today’s Zaman.

Existing arrangements concerning the use of Incirlik are still in force between Turkey and the U.S. and no additional understandings have been made, sources in the Prime Minister’s office were quoted as saying.

Turkey and the U.S. reached a new agreement on the training of Syrian opposition forces, the sources reportedly said.

Earlier reports suggested that the U.S. and Turkey agreed to let U.S. and coalition fighter aircraft launch operations against IS militants in Iraq and Syria from Turkish bases

U.S. officials also confirmed that Ankara had agreed to train Syrian moderate forces on Turkish soil.
