Microsoft “to roll out fitness wearables within weeks”

Microsoft is reportedly preparing to unveil a wearable device in the next few weeks.

As Digital Spy reveals citing Forbes, the company is planning to launch a smartwatch with fitness features, including a heart rate monitor.

The Verge also reports that the fitness band will be available in time for Christmas and will mainly focus on fitness activities, such as the number of calories burned and more, using a range of sensors.

It is thought that the device will be able to run for up to two days with regular use.

Microsoft is apparently developing apps for Windows Phone, iOS and Android to support users with notifications from the band.

Earlier this year, patent filings surfaced from the PC maker, indicating that a smartwatch was in development.
