“Polar: Came from the Cold” graphic novel gets film treatment

Constantin Film and Dark Horse Entertainment have launched development of a movie based on Dark Horse’s graphic novel “Polar: Came from the Cold”, Variety reported.

Constantin Film preemptively purchased the spec script for “Polar,” written by Jayson Rothwell.

Dark Horse published “Polar,” written and illustrated by Victor Santos, in November.

The story centers on Black Kaiser, a master assassin forced out of retirement when he finds himself the target of a crew of younger hitmen — which is at odds with the protective relationship he has with the child of one of his former marks.

Constantin and Dark Horse are out to directors with the aim of shooting in the spring. Constantin’s Robert Kulzer will be producing along with Jeremy Bolt and Dark Horse’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg.

Constantin released “Pompeii” earlier this year and German hit “Fack Ju, Goethe.” Richardson is currently producing “Tarzan” for Warner Bros. with Alexander Skarsgard, Sam Jackson, Margot Robbie and Christoph Waltz starring.

Rothwell is also writing a heist thriller for Thunder Road.
