An agreement on transportation of Kazakhstani oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, the General Export Oil Pipeline was signed. At a briefing Kazakhstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev said he finds it hard to assess the significance of the document. "Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan located at the Caspian Sea coast are considered to be the main knots of the trade chain with Central Asia. Moreover, with signing the agreement we have received the third route for the export of oil besides those coming via Russia and China. The volume of output of Kazakhstani oil will increase till 2015, that is why the BTC is very important for us.

It should be noted that the agreement signed between Azerbaijan and kazakhstan provides for transportation of 25 million tons of Kazakhstani oil through the BTC. 7.5 million tons will be transported during the first stage.
