Kidman to replace Paltrow in "Secret in Their Eyes" remake

Nicole Kidman is in negotiations to join the remake of 2010 Oscar winner "The Secret in Their Eyes". The Aussie actress is eyed to play the role which was originally set for Gwyneth Paltrow. She is expected to join the cast that includes Julia Roberts and Chiwetel Ejiofor, AceShowbiz said.

Directed by Juan Jose Campanella, the original film follows a retired attorney who writes a book about an unsolved case and his own unrequited love for one of his former superiors, prompting old secrets to unravel. It won Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards four years ago.

The Argentine crime thriller features two male leads and one female lead, but some changes are expected to be made for the remake. Director Billy Ray reportedly has re-written the characters and specifically gender-swapped one of the roles for the "Pretty Woman" actress.
