Apple's rumored iPad Pro tablet will measure in as thin as the iPhone 6, according to a report.

According to Digital Spy, Japanese tech blog Macotakara claims that the 12.2-inch tablet will come in between 6.9mm and 7.1mm, the latter measurement being that of the iPhone 6 Plus.

Should the report prove accurate, the large-screen tablet will not be quite as svelte as the 6.1mm iPad Air 2, but will be one of the slimmest slates Apple has released.

The iPad Pro is said to resemble a larger version of the iPad Air 2, with two additional speakers and an extra microphone included for the benefit of audio professionals.

The tablet has been tipped for launch in the first quarter of 2015, although Apple traditionally announces iPad hardware late in the year.

In other Apple news, a purported leaked memo has suggested that the Apple Watch may not arrive until spring.
