“Elizabeth” director to helm “Tiger’s Curse” adventure saga

“Elizabeth” director Shekhar Kapur will direct adventure saga “Tiger’s Curse”, Variety reported.

Lotus Entertainment will introduce the project at the American Film Market.

“Tiger’s Curse,” based on the first in a series of novels by Colleen Houck, has been adapted by Julie Plec, creator of “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals.”

Ineffable Pictures’ founder Raphael Kryszek and Jesse Israel will produce along with Lotus Entertainment’s Bill Johnson and Jim Seibel and Kapur. Lotus’ D.J. Gugenheim and Ara Keshishian are executive producing.

The novel centers on a woman who learns that she has a powerful connection with a beautiful white tiger named Ren, while working at a circus in Oregon over the summer. When a mysterious stranger arrives to reclaim Ren and return him to his native India, the woman learns that the tiger is a prince who is the victim of a 300-year-old curse.

Lotus Entertainment’s current film slate includes “Replicas,” starring Keanu Reeves; “Kidnap,” starring Halle Berry; and Tom Tykwer’s “A Hologram for a King,” starring Tom Hanks.

Kapur’s credits include “Four Feathers,” “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” and the documentary “Bollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told,” which premiered at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
