The annual Turkish Golden Plane honored Charles Aznavour, with the prize already awarded to the world-renowned French-Armenian singer in Paris, Armenian media reported citing Posta daily.

Turkey’s ambassador to Paris Hakki Akil handed the prize on behalf of the residents of Izmit, where the ceremony is usually held.

“If my Izmit-born mother saw her fellow citizens award me the prize she would surely have been happy,” Aznavour said.

This year, the official ceremony will take place on the evening of November 4 in Istanbul.
