Benicio Del Toro joins Jamie Foxx in “The Trap” Southern revenge movie

Benicio Del Toro is joining Jamie Foxx in The Trap, a Southern revenge movie written and to be directed by Spring Breakers helmer Harmony Korine, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The script is a crime thriller centering on two childhood friends now in their mid-to-late 30s — one of whom is very successful and the other has spent the majority of his adult life in jail. On the eve of a big recognition for the successful man, the other is released from jail and determined to get even.

John Lesher and Charles-Marie Anthonioz are producing the film, which is slated to shoot early next year.

Foxx is gearing up for a big Christmas season, co-starring in New Line's comedy Horrible Bosses 2, opening November 26, and toplining Sony's update of Annie, which opens December 19.

Del Toro was most recently seen in Guardians of the Galaxy, and will hit the big screen next in Inherent Vice.
