Google Maps on Android, iPhone redesigned

Google has continued its roll-out of Material Design to Google Maps, according to Digital Spy.

The makeover follows those for Android, Chrome OS, the web and other apps such as Google Calendar, which have already adopted the new, consistent look.

Material Design has introduced bolder colours, new iconography and typography to the app, as well as greater layering.

"Over the next few days, when you open up Google Maps on your Android or iPhone, you'll be greeted by bright colours and a fresh new design," the company said in a blog post.

There's also a new info sheet at the bottom of the screen, which brings up a layer of photos, reviews and more when tapped.

U.S. users gain integration with OpenTable too, allowing them to make table reservations within the app.
