Karabakh helicopter crew fate remains unknown

The State Commission on prisoners of war, hostages and the missing persons of the Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) Republic appealed Thursday, Nov 13, to the International Committee of Red Cross mission in the NKR with regards to the unarmed helicopter that was shot down during its training flight Wednesday by the Azerbaijani armed forces.

The Commission notes that Azerbaijan keeps under fire the site where the helicopter fell, making any attempt to clarify the fate of the three crewmembers – Sergey Sahakyan, Sargis Nazaryan and Azat Sahakyan – impossible.

The Commission asked the ICRC to assist in determining the exact location of the helicopter and its crew.

Mi-24 helicopter of the Nagorno Karabakh army was shot during a training flight as result of ceasefire violation by the Azerbaijani armed forces on Wednesday at about 1pm local time. According to the NKR Defense Ministry, the attack took place not far from the line of contact.
