Slipknot's new drummer, bassist identities revealed months of rumour

After months of rumour and speculation, the identities of Slipknot's new drummer and bassist have been revealed, Gigwise reports.

Mystery has surrounded the band's new line-up since the departure of drummer Joey Jordison and death of bassist Paul Gray. The band have since released new album .5: The Gray Chapter and have been touring the world, without officially confirming the identities of the new new masked men.

Now, a drum tech named Norm Costa who had taken umbridge with recently being let go by the band, has let the truth it with a series of Instagram posts with the hashtag #FuckSlipknot.

Apparently the drummer is indeed the long-rumoured former Against Me sticksman Max Weinberg, and the bassist is Alessandro 'Vman' Venturella - former guitarist of Krokodil and guitar tech for Mastodon.

Earlier this year, Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace has responded to rumours that former bandmate Jay Weinberg had joined Slipknot, saying, "Good luck with that. #shitbag."

Weinberg quit Against Me! in 2012, and Grace told Spin, "I just woke up one morning and read on Twitter that he was leaving the band." Slipknot, meanwhile, parted ways with their former drummer Joey Jordison in 2013, with Jordison insisting, "I did not quit Slipknot."

Laura Jane Grace subsequently sent a series of less than flattering tweets referring to Weinberg, who is Bruce Springsteen drummer Max Weinberg's son.

Slipknot's .5 The Gray Chapter is out now. The band will be touring the album in January.
