Instagram introduces 5 new filters for first time in tow years

Instagram has introduced new photo filters for the first time in two years, Digital Spy said.

The Facebook-owned app's last filters - Mayfair and Willow - were added in December 2012, but the company has admitted trends have evolved.

The five new filters are called Slumber, Crema, Ludwig, Aden and Perpetua, which are said to "soften and subtly shift colours".

"Inspired by the photography, art, fashion and design of the global Instagram community, we're releasing five new filters that we believe are our best yet. You'll see the filters at the front of your filter tray," Instagram said in a blog post.

The way filters are displayed has also changed, now showing a blurred preview of your photo with its effect applied.

Users are able to use a new Manage button to re-arrange the order of filters and hide less favoured ones.

The changes are available from today (December 16) on iOS and Android versions of the app.
