Fat White Family rock band using Lennon’s equipment for new album

Fat White Family are currently working on their second album at Sean Lennon’s recording studio in New York City and have revealed that they are using John Lennon’s old Beatles equipment during the process, Gigwise reveals.

The band met the icon’s son at a performance as part of SXSW last year and subsequently enlisted Lennon to co-produce the record.

Speaking to NME, the band discussed utilising the old equipment and what it is like to work with Sean Lennon, saying: "Almost everything we pick up, Sean'll be like, 'Oh that was my dad’s’. We’ve been using this old mellotron of his – I don't know if it's the one on 'Strawberry Fields…', but for the sake of the story, let's just say it is.”

Guitarist Saul Adamczewski also revealed the band’s interest in Lennon’s girlfriend when they first started working together: “"She's in his band and she's stunning, so we were all staring at her going, 'Oh my god, who's that girl?'Joe [Pancucci, bassist] kept trying to chat her up; he kept approaching her, and she kept moving away. It was our old drummer who approached Sean, kissing his arse, basically, so they hit it off and he took us all out for dinner. He's a cool bloke. A strange bloke.”

Fat White Family are set to perform on the Annual NME Awards Tour alongside Palma Violets, The Amazing Snakeheads and Slaves.
