Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan will star in Captain America: Civil War, Digital Spy reports.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo confirmed the return of Black Widow and the Winter Soldier for the third film in Marvel Studios' series.

"We've been preparing for the movie since the one debuted last year," Anthony Russo told Sina.com. "So, we've been working on it for a long time now.

"We're very happy how it's coming along... It's going to star Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson will be back, Winter Soldier [Stan] will be back, and Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man will also be joining us in the next film."

Chadwick Boseman will reportedly make his first appearance as Black Panther in film.

The movie will be based on the Marvel Comics event Civil War, which saw Iron Man and Captain America go to war over the proposed forced registration of superheroes.

Captain America: Civil War will be released on April 29, 2016 in the UK and May 6 in the US.
