Dropbox buys mobile productivity startup CloudOn

Dropbox has just bought CloudOn, a mobile productivity startup based in Herzliya, Israel, for an undisclosed sum, The Next Web reports.

CloudOn made a name for itself with apps that allow users to create and edit Microsoft Office files online and on mobile devices.

The company says it will shut down its service, currently being used by nine million people worldwide, on March 15 and won’t be accepting new users from today.

CloudOn’s 30-member team will be the largest acquisition for Dropbox in terms of staff numbers.
