Microsoft rolling out new Outlook apps for iOS, Android

Microsoft is rolling out new Outlook apps for iOS and Android, Digital Spy reveals.

The new apps are essentially a rebrand of Acompli, which the company acquired back in December.

They will be updated with new features weekly and will also replace the current batch of Outlook-branded apps available from Microsoft on the two platforms.

"We have been and we'll continue to update the app weekly," Microsoft's general manager of Office Julia White said.

"So in a very short period time you'll start to see variance from the Acompli app that will not be updated after that point."

Acompli has been praised by users for features such as the swipe function to archive or delete emails. Microsoft has also decided to keep its integration with Google Drive and Dropbox.

Outlook will support Office 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail and a selection of other email providers.
