Russia donates $5 million to develop rural communities in Armenia

Russian government has allocated over $5 million to Armenia under the 2015-2019 UNDP program for development of rural communities, ARKA reports citing Russian foreign ministry’s official website.

The project aims to ensure development, increase farming incomes, reduce poverty and improve living conditions in Armenia’s Tavush province, with 62,000 beneficiaries targeted.

“Financial, expert and technical support will be our country’s practical contribution to the international community's efforts to help Armenia achieve UN Millennium Development Goals,” the ministry’s report said. “The project will also promote further strengthening of the Russian-Armenian strategic partnership.”
