U.S. embassy in Armenia launches “It’s a Wonderful Life” project

The U.S. embassy in Armenia has partnered with the Project Harmony International (PHI) on a project designed to generate a conversation about social inclusion and disabilities with Armenian youth.

Our “It’s a Wonderful Life” project centers around the New York Times best-selling novel Wonder, a touching and thought-provoking book about a boy with a severe facial disfigurement who faces challenges when he starts school, the embassy said in a press release.

This book, which has been translated into Armenian, will soon be introduced into 50 high schools across Armenia. On Feb 5-6, our implementing partner Project Harmony, which developed lesson plans based on the book, will conduct a two-day teacher training workshop in Yerevan for participating teachers.

In later stages of the project in the spring, the U.S. Embassy will launch an art contest inspired by Wonder and hold a Youth Summit on Social Inclusion.

The free e-book in Armenian will be available for free at the Apple iBookstore and Google Play at the end of February.
