HTC reports slender Q3 profits

HTC has reported slender profits during its latest quarterly earnings call, its third consecutive quarter of profitability, Digital Spy reports.

The Taiwanese firm announced profit of $15.9 million from revenues of $1.5 billion for the three-month period ending in December.

Although this is a far cry from the days of 2011 when HTC was the leading smartphone brand in the US, a year-on-year revenue increase of 12% marks its best performance for some time.

Company CEO Peter Chou described the results as a "solid platform" to build on and confirmed that HTC will invest heavily in "mobile lifestyle" products going forward.

Last month, the firm announced a partnership with sports brand Under Armour that will see it launch its first wearable fitness products.

HTC will announce its next flagship smartphone, believed to be the HTC One M9, at MWC 2015 on March 1.
