Anna Muylaert’s “The Second Mother”, which plays in a Berlin Panorama Special slot after its Sundance screening, has closed deals in the U.K. and Canada (Soda Pictures), Italy (BIM), Spain (Caramel), Benelux (September) and Switzerland (Filcoopi). Pic is being sold by the Match Factory, Variety reports.

A U.S. deal with Oscilloscope Pictures was announced Feb. 6, while Memento took France.

Pic is produced by Brazil’s Gullane, and was presented in Locarno last year in a rough cut by Fabiano Gullane.

Gullane is hoping for cross-over success with the film, a damedy that plays on Brazil’s new wealth, growing middle class and the working poor. Pic grabbed lots of coverage at home after the film won a special jury award at Sundance for the lead actresses Regina Case and Camila Mardila.
