Wolfe Releasing acquires "Seashore" coming-of-age Berlinale drama

FiGa Films has sold the U.S. and Canada rights for Brazilian coming-of-age drama “Beira-Mar” (Seashore), which had its world premiere in Berlinale’s Forum section, to Wolfe Releasing, Variety reports.

Before the premiere, rights for Germany, Austria and Switzerland rights were picked up by Pro-Fun Media. FiGa is in talks with potential partners for other territories.

The film, co-directed by Filipe Matzembacher and Marcio Reolon, centers on two young men who explore the border between love and friendship on a trip to a coastal town in Southern Brazil.

“It’s rare to find a coming-of-age story treated so sensitively and authentically,” said Wolfe’s co-president Jim Stephens.

“It’s heartening to see the great interest in Brazilian films out there,” said Sandro Fiorin, co-head of FiGa Films. “It confirms our decision to market these films as part of our new FiGa/Br sub-label.”
