Google’s I/O developer conference to kick off May 28

Google has announced that its I/O developer conference will take place on May 28 and May 29 this year, Digital Spy reports.

Those interested in attending can register their interest online from March 17, but guests will be chosen at random through a lottery system.

Although the event is developer-centric, Google traditionally uses it to announce the latest Android and Chrome developments, and occasionally new hardware.

This year, the web giant is expected to make an announcement regarding its Project Ara modular smartphones and discuss the future of Android Wear.

At the 2014 conference, Google showcased Android Wear, Android TV and Android Auto, among numerous other apps and services.

Keynotes from I/O 2015 will be available to live stream via the event's website.
