Apple is reportedly planning to expand its biometric security option to the next MacBook.

A source from the company's Asian supply chain apparently revealed Touch ID's expansion, Digitla Spy reports citing Taiwanese blog AppleCorner.

It's claimed that the feature could appear on Apple's long-rumoured 12-inch MacBook Air, with a sensor placed above the trackpad.

The prospect is plausible - Touch ID was first introduced to the iPhone 5S in 2013, before making the move to iPads.

Touch ID also works with Apple Pay, meaning users would be able to buy goods with the feature from their notebook.

The contactless payment service is expected to launch in the UK soon, after a job listing for a London-based intern to assist on the project was spotted in December last year.
