Sony “to roll out mid-range Xperia phone at MWC 2015”

Sony is rumoured to be launching a new mid-range smartphone at the Mobile World Congress next month, Digital Spy reports.

Details of the mystery handset have appeared on benchmarking websites Geekbench and GFXBench, shedding light on an impressive set of specs.

The device appears to be an upper mid-range offering, with a 5.2-inch 720 x 1280 display, an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor, an Adreno 405 GPU, and 2GB of RAM on board.

It is also listed with a 12-megapixel camera on the rear, a 5-megapixel sensor on the front, and Android 5.0 Lollipop installed out of the box.

The phone could be a follow-up to the Xperia T3 or the Xperia C3, but is an all-round more accomplished device than either of its predecessors.

Sony is not expected to launch its next flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4, until later this year, but will have a presence at MWC.
