Google boosts search on mobile devices

Google has improved its search service on mobile devices with the introduction of article 'carousels', Digital Spy reports.

Content is now grouped together by topic and source and placed into a rotating 'carousel' that users can navigate by swiping left and right.

"Now, if you search on Google on your mobile, you'll see the freshest, most relevant content from within a single website grouped together in one easy-to-scan place," said Google in a blog post.

"When you search for a topic, just scroll down to see a 'carousel' of recent articles, videos or more on that subject."

The update follows the internet giant's deal with Twitter that has seen tweets become more prominent among Google search results.

Elsewhere, Google is under scrutiny in Russia after the country's largest search engine Yandex accused it of anti-competitive practices.
