The Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) Republic President Bako Sahakyan visited the provinces of Martakert and Shahumyan on March 15 to familiarize himself with the Martakert-Vardenis highway construction process.

Sahakyan headed a working consultation in the village of Eghegnut, Shahumyan province, with NKR minister of municipal engineering Karen Shahramanyan and deputy executive director of Hayastan All-Armenian fund Ararat Khlghatyan delivering reports.

Later, Sahakyan expressed satisfaction with the course of the activities implemented. The President put a special emphasis on the necessity of ensuring high quality of the construction and gave relevant instructions.

The NKR leader further visited the construction site of a hydropower station near the village of Eghegnut. Sahakyan noted that Shahoumyan province has a great potential for hydropower generation, adding that the state will take every possible effort to develop the sector.

Prime Minister Ara Haroutyunyan and other officials accompanied the President during the visit, the Central Information Department at NKR President's Office reports.
