Android Wear update helps locate lost smartphone

Android Wear smartwatches will help users track down their lost smartphone following the software's latest update, Digital Spy reports.

Google is bringing its Android Device Manager service to the wearables, allowing users to trigger their missing handset to ring at full volume and reveal its location.

"Android Wear connects your phone to your wrist, and together with Android Device Manager, you can make sure it stays that way," said Google in a blog post.

"To use this new feature, just say, 'OK, Google. Start. Find my phone', or select the 'Find my phone' option in the Start menu. Your phone will ring at full volume, and you'll be that much closer to, well, finding your phone."

Android Device Manager is already available as an app and web-based service, and has apparently helped 30 million tablet and smartphone owners locate their missing devices since launch.

Google will bring the feature to Android Wear smartwatches over the coming weeks.
