Production on The Neon Demon has begun in Los Angeles, according to Digital Spy.

Principal photography is underway on the horror film from Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn.

The film centres on an aspiring model who finds her youth and vitality being devoured by a group of women.

Elle Fanning joined the film earlier this year, with Jena Malone, Karl Glusman, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee, Desmond Harrington, Christina Hendricks and Keanu Reeves also due to star.

Refn said: "I very much look forward to the odyssey I'll be taking with all these wonderful actresses (and a few guys) to travel beyond The Neon Demon where all I see is the wicked dying young."

The film was previously being developed under the working title I Walk with the Dead.

The Neon Demon is scheduled to be released in 2016.
