“Spy” director Paul Feig has been selected to receive CinemaCon’s Comedy Filmmaker of the Year award on April 23 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, according to Variety.

Feig previewed the Melissa McCarthy-Sandra Bullock comedy “The Heat” at CinemaCon in 2013, two years after the release of “Bridesmaids.”

Fox will release “Spy” on June 5. Feig directed from his own script and produced via his Feigco Entertainment banner. McCarthy plays an unassuming, deskbound CIA analyst who goes into action when agents played by Jude Law and Jason Statham are in danger.

Feig was the creator of “Freaks and Geeks,” and he has directed multiple episodes of “Arrested Development,” “The Office,” “Nurse Jackie,” “Bored to Death,” “Weeds,” “30 Rock” and “Mad Men.” He’s directing a reboot of “Ghostbusters” with a female-led cast that will open in July 2016.
