Obama to appoint delegation to attend Genocide commemorative events

The United States of America will be officially represented at the centenary events in Tsitsernakaberd, the Armenian Genocide memorial, with the members of the delegation to be appointed by the U.S. President Barack Obama himself.

“The United States will be officially represented by a delegation, named by the president, at the memorial events in Yerevan. We expect to announce the members of the delegation soon,” the U.S. ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills stated, according to Armenpress.

“Along with Armenia, the United States mourns the victims of the massacres and deportation of about 1,5 million Armenians during the last years of the Ottoman Empire. We should never forget this tragedy and should keep bright the memory of those, who gave their lives for us to work with the international community not to allow such horrible things to happen again,” the envoy said.
