Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) goes from the hunter to the hunted in the latest Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation teaser, Digital Spy reports.

The stunts are bigger and bolder in a preview of the fifth Mission: Impossible movie, with Cruise even hanging off the side of a jet as it takes off.

Ethan Hunt is on the run from a criminal syndicate hunting down Impossible Missions Force agents following the government agency's disbandment.

Helping Ethan to stay one step ahead of the syndicate are his trusted IMF allies Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), William Brandt (Jeremy Renner) and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg).

New additions to the franchise include Alec Baldwin as the head of the CIA, while The White Queen's Rebecca Ferguson stuns as the alluring Ilsa Faust.

This latest Mission: Impossible movie is directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who previously worked with Tom Cruise on the action hit Jack Reacher.

McQuarrie also wrote Cruise's World War II drama Valkyrie and the sci-fi action epic Edge of Tomorrow.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation opens on July 31 in the US and the UK.
