"Mr. Holmes" new trailer features Ian McKellen as famous detective

A new trailer of "Mr. Holmes" has recently been released. The trailer features Ian McKellen as the aging Mr. Holmes, Laura Linney who portrays Holme's housekeeper and Milo Parker who stars as the son of Linney's character, AceShowbiz reports.

Holmes is the most famous detective in the land whose fame led people to make some misconceptions. In the upcoming movie, the aging and retired Holmes lives in a remote Sussex farmhouse and teams up with his housekeeper's son to grapple with an unsolved case about life and love.

"Mr. Holmes" is described as "a new twist on the world's most famous detective. 1947, an aging Sherlock Holmes returns from a journey to Japan, where, in search of a rare plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare. Now, in his remote seaside farmhouse, Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits the circumstances of the unsolved case that forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love - before it's too late."

The film is based on Mitch Cullen's novel "Slight Trick of the Mind" that puts a twist on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's fictional sleuth. Directed by Bill Condon, the film is set for a release in the U.K. on June 19.
