Smaller Nexus 6 smartphone on its way: report

With its gargantuan 6-inch display, the Nexus 6 smartphone is just too big for some, but reports suggest that its successor will arrive alongside a smaller alternative, Digital Spy reports.

Rumours have tipped Huawei as the maker of Google's next flagship, but Android Police has now brought word of a second Nexus blower for 2015 made by LG.

The LG handset will allegedly measure in at 5.2-inches, and could hit the market at the same time as the 6-inch version Huawei is overseeing.

The report follows leaked details about the Huawei Nexus, which is said to feature a 5.7-inch 2K OLED display provided by Samsung, boasting a 1440 x 2560-pixel resolution, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

Google recently admitted that its Nexus range is struggling, with the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 failing to attract the kind of sales figures it was banking on.

However, it appears committed to the brand for the time being, and could outline its future plans for it at its I/O developer conference later this month.
