Brad Pitt’s “World War Z” sequel release date set

Let the zombie apocalypse continue. World War Z's sequel has confirmed a release date. The Brad Pitt-produced project (via Plan B) is set to hit theaters on June 9, 2017, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

Director Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible) will work alongside screenwriter Steven Knight, who will pen the sequel for Paramount and Skydance.

Knight's resume includes Dirty Pretty Things, David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises and Martin Scorsese’s Leonardo DiCaprio-starring Shutter Island. The screenwriter is repped by CAA and U.K.'s United Agents.

World War Z, directed by Marc Forster, has scored $540 million worldwide since its June 2013 release.
