Shazam adds support for Android Wear in new update

Android Wear users can now tag songs directly from their wrists following an update to Shazam's mobile app, Digital Spy reports.

The service can now use the microphone on a smartwatch to listen to the track that is playing, but the synced smartphone app does the legwork.

The Shazam app for Android Wear also provides song lyrics and automatically adds all tagged songs to the user's 'My Shazam' list.

It does not yet include the option to purchase tracks that have been identified from a smartwatch, with users having to whip their phone out to do this.

The update brings the Shazam Android app in line with its iOS counterpart, which has included Apple Watch support for a while.

To unlock Android Wear support, users simply need to update the Shazam app on their phone and sync their wearable with their handset.
