Android M tipped for fingerprint logins

Google's answer to Apple TouchID biometric security could be just around the corner following reports that a similar feature will be included in Android M.

The web behemoth is expected to announce the feature during a keynote at the I/O developer conference next week, Digital Spy reports citing BuzzFeed.

The service will reportedly function similarly to TouchID, allowing users to access supported apps via fingerprint recognition, rather than a traditional password.

Several Android devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S6, already include a fingerprint scanner, and Google's forthcoming wave of Nexus devices have also been tipped for this functionality.

Google is yet to officially confirm any details about the next version of Android, but we don't have long to wait before it does, with I/O set to commence on May 28.
