Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) of Turkey will be promoting normalization of ties with Armenia if successful at parliamentary elections. HDP will also support the Genocide recognition campaign, the party’s deputy chair said.

“We support implementation of the protocol for normalization of ties with Armenia and opening of the border. Turkish-Armenian relations should not depend on the Karabakh conflict settlement - the issue should be solved between the Armenian and Azerbaijani people through negotiations,” RIA Novosti quoted Nazmi Gur as saying.

As he further noted, if elected into parliament, the party will back joint implementation of Turkish Stream Pipeline Project with Russia.

At the same time, HDP is opposed to the development of nuclear energy projects in Turkey out of concern for the environmental risks.
