Ravi Shankar Prasad, India's information minister, announced the new Wi-Fi service on Twitter last week, which will give Taj Mahal visitors free Wi-Fi for 30 minutes, after which they will be charged a fee.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a state-run telecommunications company, will be providing the free connectivity to visitors, according to Prasad's tweet.

The number of engaged online users has continued to grow in India, with many people getting online via low cost Android devices.
