Electric Yerevan rally participants pose new demands to authorities

“No to Robbery” civic initiative staging protests in Yerevan against the power tariff rise has issued a statement with demands to the Armenian authorities, Panorama.am reports.

The statement says the demand for overturning the decision by Public Services Regulatory Commission of June 17 about a rise in power tariffs remains the first demand. Secondly, protesters demand that last year’s tariff be revised and cut. Their third demand is to punish policemen who committed violations during the events early on June 23 and also those who gave orders to them.

As was reported, a sit-in protest is underway at Bagramyan Avenue in central Yerevan. The protest is staged by supporters of “No to Robbery” civic initiative against the rise in electricity tariffs. Participants stress that the protests they have been staging since June 19 is purely social by nature. They demand that the head of state revoke the decision of Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission of June 17 to raise electricity tariffs by AMD 6.93.
